Last month at Thatcham Foodbank we had another very successful cookery class with clients who use the foodbank.
Encouraged and guided by our patient volunteers, they produced some delicious looking chicken pies, after mastering making pastry.
They then had the opportunity to take their pies home to share with family or friends.
Cooking from scratch is cheaper and helps you to meal plan or batch cook.
Cooking on a budget is a skill and we are very lucky that Thatcham Baptist Church allow us to use their facilities to share our knowledge with our clients.

I just wanted to pop you a message on what I thought about the cooking class today.
I absolutely loved it! I don’t have great confidence as I struggle with anxiety but the lady who ran the class made me feel at ease and comfortable! She was so helpful and so lovely! It was my first time ever making a pie and Ive had so many compliments on how great it tasted! I can’t wait to come again!
If you could please pass along my thanks to her for not only helping me make such a delicious pie but also for making me feel comfortable and for being so lovely!
I have enjoyed the experience and met some great people in learning new skills in cooking. It’s not only been a wonderful way to get the most out of my everyday essentials but also a confidence boost in myself that I can achieve this with family and friends.
