West Berks Foodbank is proud to recognise the outstanding generosity and community spirit of Surrey Street Rodders, whose continued support has made a meaningful difference to local families.
The relationship began last year when Surrey Street Rodders kindly purchased family tickets for local households supported by the foodbank to attend the pantomime at the Corn Exchange. This thoughtful gesture enabled over twenty families to enjoy a festive outing and create special memories together.
Building on this connection, Andrew from Surrey Street Rodders took the time to visit the foodbank, meet the team, and see first-hand the vital work being carried out. Following this visit, the group generously invited West Berks Foodbank to host a stand at their renowned annual “Wheels Day 2026” event at Newbury Showground.
Despite less-than-perfect weather, the event drew an incredible turnout. The sheer number and variety of vehicles on display was staggering, with everything a car enthusiast could wish for. From the low rumble of show cars queuing to enter, to the vibrant sights and sounds across the showground, the day delivered an unforgettable experience for visitors from all over the country.
At the event, West Berks Foodbank engaged attendees through a raffle, helping to raise vital funds while connecting with members of the public. The activity also provided a great opportunity to highlight the work of the foodbank and the essential support it offers to those in need.
In a truly humbling moment, Surrey Street Rodders presented the foodbank with a £1,000 donation on the day. Contributions like this are vital in helping charities like West Berks Foodbank continue their work, keeping services running and ensuring support reaches those who need it most. Beyond the financial impact, opportunities like Wheels Day also play a crucial role in raising awareness of foodbanks and the challenges faced by communities.
The day’s raffle winner, Jennifer—who had travelled with her family to showcase her vintage American car—was delighted to take home a celebratory hamper, rounding off what had been a fantastic event.
West Berks Foodbank extends its sincere thanks to Surrey Street Rodders, especially Andrew, for their kindness, generosity, and ongoing support. Thanks are also due to the dedicated volunteers who gave their time and energy to make the day such a success.
